SCHOol......

The end of the week is in sight,
and so has my Oral (Chinese).

I plead thy throat to recover quickly,
so that I shall enter the hall without worries.

Eventful week? I guess not,
therefore nothing for me blog about.
Dead has the tagboard here become,
thus thinking of taking it out.
A server, my computer has become,
though it is only for private use.

*sobz* byez holidays

Well.. *sobs* I gues this is it. The holidays are going to be over. It has been a very fast one. But it is nothing compared to what we are going to face back at school. Already there are signs that are telling us that the teachers are going to open the throttle further.

For the benefit of my classmates who have not been checking their schoolDNA account, Ms Goh P.K. (Dupty.P) has set a biweekly english test for all sec 4s, 1st two periods on the 1st day of school....*pause*

There was a pause there as I am sure my classmates would look at it in horror. haha.

It been quite some time since I last blogged as I was rushing my homework. As it is now, I still have not finished it. oh well.. I hope I can make it by tomorrow....

Those...... arrgh !!

Two days! only two days! When I didn't have time to check my email and I get over 50+ spam and virus ladden emails across my 4 main email aliases. I even got emails saying my email addressed got spoofed.
I hate to think about the other 10 email accounts I have not check for weeks.

Just what the hell is going on in the morass of neurons those virus writers and spammers have. It is tough finding an answer to their idiosyncratic behaviour. To think they could have used that intelligent brain of theirs to help people instead of stepping over the blue line - over to the other unglamourous side of the law.

It would be understandable if they are kleptomaniacs, but that is rarely the case. most are just sadistic. Lapping up the joy of bringing a company or a person to their knees.

Choosing to use their knowledge of programming and computers for nefarious purposes.

It's a pity they will never realise that it takes twice as much courage to do something right as opposed to doing something wrong.

It's a real pity...

At last, can blog

At last, after 3 days, finally got everything loaded after reformatting my computer. My blog went dead for a while as I was busy "saving" my computer from the damn Win32.Mytob virus. Got that stupid virus from my school's email account. I won't even try and explain how I got it in the first place. That file was deemed "clean" by norton and trend-micro antivirus softwares. The virus definition/signature for the virus only came out, if I am not wrong, on 15 June 2005, but I was infected on Monday, 13 June 2005.
LuckilyI had ZoneAlarm active, and got suspicious when the program asked for permission to access the internet. Did a search and figured it was a virus. Sent the file to CA labs and they confirmed my conclusion. Didn't want to take any chances, so reformatted my computer.
Thinking after switching to linux soon. I am quite impressed with Red Hat linux's Fedora Core 4.

Wednesday, I finally met up with my friends for the Social Studies project. At least the project is already done. Seems that none of us finished our holiday homework... Have to rush soon. only a few more days b4 all of us have to turn on the throttle. Gone were the days of slacking.

Quite a number of interesting shows. Wanted to watch batman begins but couldn't find anyone which wasn't busy playing games. I think the June 25 will not have a go ahead. Shu have test, Leon got Sentosa, Shaun going overseas.

Grace will be back from Shanghai for 2.5 months. It is their summer break. Its funny that just as our holidays are ending, hers is starting. Geez.... I am getting jealous. Thats quite a long break. We never get such a long break in Singapore. Even if the break is long, we are sure to be summoned back to school for some activity or another. Oh well, what choice do we have.

Must admit, I have been watching alot T.V. shows lately. For example, the serial: Young Justice Bao and the anime on arts central: Sharman King.
Haha, if I would only be like the guy named Gongsun Ce on Young Justice Bao, good in all four components: 琴, 棋, 书, 法 (music, chess, studies, calligraphy), basically good in everything.

hmm.. I guess thats all (for now)...

Two More weeks

Time sure passes quickly. Two weeks left b4 school starts and I did not even finish half of my homework... I am very tired and bored at the sight of that pile of work.

After the first week, there seems to be a lack of activities.
Suppose to do the Social studies project last wednesday, but Jeremy had to play soccer the day b4 and screw up his ankle temporary ruining his ability to walk. Such a waste, it was a very cloudy day, a very nice day to do site survey.

Sianz. Blog counter not even working. Doesn't record a single damn thing. Had to add another one. Dunno when the original counter will start working.

The pursue of immortality

"You do not need to live forever. You just have to know how to live..." Sounds confusing but is actually very relevant and true.

How to live eternally, if not, longer, are some of the questions I am sure many people will come to think about. But is there a need for a person to live longer if all that is expected of the person is done and he has accomplished whatever he/she has set out to do?? Is there any need to extend your live if you have lived in contentment and had a very fruitful life?? I am sure there isn't a need for that. A person will wish to live longer only when that person still has somethings that he/she cannot let go... for example, an unwed child.

With life, there must certainly have death, before there is a complete cycle. As a person grows older, gradually he /she will look at things from a wider angle. To live and let live. To forgive and forget. Fear of death and then seeking of immortality is not the answer to everything.

Man has ventured into cloning in hope to keep endangered species from dwindling in there numbers till the extent of perishing. However the theory of cloning a person has already materialize in many of scientists, though there is much hesitation on venturing into this forbidden ground.

Pet owners want this technology to clone thir faithful bloodhound so that they will be with them forever. 'Dolly' the sheep was an example of how far technology had advanced . Though the cloning was a success, the clone did not live long and died due to accelerated aging. There are still many things that are beyond mankinds' control and understanding.

Therefore, whether mankind will take a step into these voids will be left for the current and future generations to decide.

Bless The Broken Road

Lyrics

I set out on a narrow way many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you

Chorus:
Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

I think about the years I spent just passing through
I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You've been there you understand
It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true

Chorus:
Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

Now I’m just rollin’ home into my lover's arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road that led me straight to you

Singlish - The Singaporean English!

There is much hype about Singlish nowadays, and is under fire from appalled teachers and foreigners alike. They have complained that Singaporean students are using broken english and sentences were structurally incorrect. Many were also said to be not "adept" at switching between English and Singlish when the need arises.

The Singapore government has already started a campaign - The "speak good English" campaign years ago. But should Singlish ever be phased out?? Well, it depends on which point of view you take.

Language activists would certainly flip over the idea of phasing out Singlish. However, many would argue that Singlish is what defines us Singaporeans. Even some of the language researchers marvel at how we had woven these intricate languages of all 4 majors races in Singapore into one, although it had left many foreigners perplexed by it. After all being a multi-racial society, having a "combined" language like Singlish is quite pertinent. It maybe "crass, uncouth and annoyingly loud" but we just have to learn to live with it. For a place that lacks a long history and culture like China, Singlish has become an identity to many Singaporeans.

Yes, there are better reasons other than Singlish to be proud of Singaporeans, but the most prominent of all is still Singlish.

Whoa!! Time Acceleration!

Stop, Stop! It wasn't easy to wait till this time of the year... please don't pass so quickly.. Please!! Its Friday already, almost the last day of the first week of school holidays, it just seems so short.

Yesterday had lessons in the morning. Mr Sirhan managed to finish our whole secondary school syllabus, and gave us even more homework fot the holidays.
The 2nd lesson, which was Chemistry, ended early as Mr Wong found us very saturated and cannot consentrate any longer.
Went to Lido (Shaw) for lunch. Andrew decided to watch Star-Wars with Darrick, Shaun Giam, Jovian instead. Zhi Wei and few others had CCA camp thus were unable to come. Jeremy said it was a waste of time and didn't want to come. In total there was about 18 of us.

Had a great time at sentosa. Played soccer, volleyball, Captains' ball and many others. Our team
got thrashed badly. Watched Kenneth and Rueben play pool. Decided to give it a try. I think I played quite well for at a first timer.

Dinner @ noodle hut. Singapore ought to have more Halal food stalls and restaurants. Noodle hut wasn't halal and we had to walk around World Trade Center looking for a halal restaurant. Pizza for Friends, Pastamania were all non-halal. In the end poor Haiqal had to "take-away" from the food court upstairs and bring the food into noodle hut. Since Mr Wong was treating, Goutham and Davidson took the opportunity to order the "black pepper soft-whell crab la mien". Theirs was the most expensice among all our food. The total price of that meal came to about 250 bucks. Millions of thanks to Mr Wong, on behalf of the class and myself!

Came home at about 2230 hrs. Watched Shaman King at night before sleeping.

most probably going out again today. Will be starting my homework next week. The PC show has started. Contemplating whether to go.

Oh yar... decided to put the counter back on my blog. Looks nicer. Did some rearrangements within the source code so that the page loads faster.

Something seems to be wrong either with my internet connection or blogger. Blogger seems to be unusally slow.I had to send this blog entry via email.

;)

Start of holidays

Woot! Woot!!
Got a new album to add to my collection...
Avril Lavigne: Under My Skin.. Below is a picture of it

Got a haircut today too, hair was getting too long and I don't want to get barbacued tomorrow when I go to Sentosa.
Yep. Tomorrow the class is going to sentosa after our physics and chemistry extra lessons.
Not supposed to have extra lessons, but it was all thanks to the last minute mid-year exams that we are now behind schedule. Well at least there is something to look forward to provided it does not rain tomorrow. If it rains, we'll be stuck at orchard just like the last time.

Went to the doctors today. Found out I got gastric problems. Got a ton of medicine. One of them was damn expensive. It was $1 a pill... the only pill I know that is more expensive than that is v.... erm... I better not mention it.

Did some editing to my site again. Added some more links under "Listings". Also did some background script editing in hope that it will finally be certified W3C approved XHTMl.

Took a look at some bowling videos from a link found at Marian's blog. The ball rev and and release is so dream-like. So ideal. Dunno how long I have to practice before I get the same release and rev. All this talk about bowling is making my hand itch - itching to go bowling now.....
